🦋 IC Information
Character Name: the Nahobino | Kei Amemura & Aogami (see abilities for details)
Age: 18. I take Kei's age as a third-year high schooler because he 1) is the more dominant role in the body and 2) the body resembles him more. Aogami is likely ~20 something, though is also an artificial demon so it's a bit difficult to judge.
Canon: Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengence
Canon Point: Post-canon (Vengence Chaos Route)
Character History: Nahobino profile, though this mostly summarizes the other route of the game. This Nahobino is taken from the Vengence route, which is generally summarized on another character's profile.
Canon Abilities: Sorry in advance for the length, JRPGs just be like that
- Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?
- What mythological creature would your character most like to be? Which do they identify with? Which would they dread being? Feel free to use our Bestiary for reference.
- If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.
- Your character gets to return home, but when they do they learn that they've been gone for hundreds of years. How do they react?
- DAY
- AUTUMN
- DUSK
This nahobino, generally known as the Nahobino, is a fusion of the human Kei Amemura and the proto-fiend (a type of artificial demon) Aogami. They are able to fuse into a single entity with the power of a demon or even more. In this case, Kei is the one who generally pilots the body, with Aogami stepping back to just provide advice and support. They are able to unfuse at will and exist seperately, though Kei has no powers and is a squishy human, and Aogami is not nearly as powerful as his combined form. Both characters, in their combined form, are getting brought to the fae realm.
Inventory:
- the clothes on his (Kei's) back. Aogami doesn't wear clothes
🦋 Personality
Option 1: Answer the following questions. Elaborate on the answer, especially your characters thoughts and feelings surrounding the answer. For Canon Characters, you can choose four questions. For Original Characters, you will need to choose six questions. Keep the word count to 150-400 per question.
Aogami has always believed in magic, because he's a Proto-fiend made out of magic (more or less). Demons come from worlds where magic is such an intrinsic part of life that they wouldn't even think to not believe.
Kei, on the other had, didn't have any reason to believe in magic. Maybe the stray superstition, but he lived in a pretty mundane modern world (which was only barely managing to hide the incursion of demons and magic, but... still). It wasn't until being tossed into Da'at and meeting Aogami by sheer chance that he had reason to consider otherwise. Of course, he's taken to the idea of magic pretty easily considering how useful it is. Now it's just part of the skill set they need to survive and achieve their goals. Really, he'd think that anyone with the chance to embrace magic who chooses not to is kind of crazy and sacrificing their own well being over it.
In all honesty, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of the Nahobino would likely be a Merm. Nahobino has a tendency to draw the attention of others without meaning to, given their unique existence. But also that they so easily draw in demons to work for them, somehow managing to befriend a wide variety through bribes and threats and compliments. Not to mention the fact that the Nahobino is already ehavily associated with the sea and storms, given Aogami's history and family... And like an oasis in a desert, or a beautiful merm in an empty sea, Nahobino tends to be a solitary beacon of hope in the dark.
The other creature they might embody is the Grim. While their flowing blue hair doesn't match the shaggy black canine, it's more what they represent. Nahobino is an incarnation of change in every aspect of themselves. They are, by their very nature, transient as a fused entity -- and as one of the first Nahobino to re-emerge, they represent a change in eras. But even more than that, Nahobino embraces that change -- they will accept chaos and even destruction if it means a chance to break the chains of stillness and tyranny that holds them back. To see the Nahobino is possibly an ill omen, but never a sign of stagnancy.
For both Kei and Aogami their answer would be each other. The nature of their relationship as a demon and their Knowledge naturally draws them together, but they've also grown far closer than even most of those. Whether because of circumstances or just complimentary personalities (Kei's quiet resolve and Aogami's protective submission), they've bonded closely as equal partners. To exist without each other would destroy them -- especially since Kei barely made it through having to lose Aogami for a while. Of course they'd follow each other -- you can barely get them to un-fuse nowadays.
If they had to pick someone else, Aogami -- wouldn't, really, even his closest bond with his brother Tsukiyomi isn't all that close. Kei, on the other hand, would probably pick Yoko Hiromine, a friend and fellow dragged into all this demon nonsense with him. It turned out way more complicated than that, but even after essentially betraying him, he still opted to forgive her (a privilege he did not extend to his other friend, Dazai, in a... similar situation). She always reflect ideals he held himself, to the point that in the end he sided with her ideology all overs, and did follow her to another realm. Or at least helped destroy the world with her (to rebuild it!).
Nahobino would be pretty nonplussed by it, considering everything. Before they ended up with the fae, they were fully expecting to leave behind his world for a chance at a fresh start, so... of course nothing would have been the same. Maybe he'd be a bit curious, or bit sad to have missed that time, it's not such a bit deal. Almost everyone he knew by then was dead, had betrayed him (or both), or were in favor of restarting, so...
Honestly, maybe the world would've been better off without him -- or anyone from the old world -- meddling for a century. Their world suffered under the hand of greedy Gods trying to impose their order for too long, and thus Nahobino is much more fond of giving everyone a chance to grow and gain power on their own. He's done his duty restarting the world, so now it's up to them to handle it. Involving himself too heavily might just be another form of tyranny.
